A Serious Note…

Welcome! You have entered the playground of Jeffery Ritzmann and Jeremy Vaeni. We are two people with a lifetime of high-strangeness experiences usually dubbed “alien abduction.” Unfortunately, that term doesn’t begin to cover what’s happening, but to really get into it, to flesh out all the facets of our experiences, we realize we run into a wall: the New Age. We are not New Agey people misusing spiritual and scientific concepts to reinforce our personal religious convictions and we don’t appreciate being lumped in with that crowd.

Sick of defending ourselves to the world at large who have no vested interest in thinking of the paranormal as more than belief (and rightly so, given the abundance of misinformation and delusion out there) and tired of New Age morons who have put us in this position, we’ve decided to stop whining and do what corporations call a hostile takeover.

We are taking over the New Age. We are stealing back from them the vocabulary used to describe transcendent experiences. And we’re having a laugh doing it….

The Story So Far

Jeff Ritzmann and Jeremy Vaeni are paranormal talk show hosts who received a barrage of mail and phone messages urging them to take a vacation from themselves at a tropical paradise called Paratopia. They decide to go and upon arrival realize things are not what they seem. The paradise is the same sort of New Age retreat they’ve been preaching against their whole lives and whoever the mystery person is running the small islands that comprise Paratopia will stop at nothing to make them stay and host the Paratopia Podcast, even if that means taking away their watches, their contact with the outside world, and drugging them every time they resist.

In fact, that is what it means.

The Website & The Show

Paratopia.net is an experimental mixture of the serious and the funny. The podcast is a throwback to radio serials from yesteryear. Things that happen on the website will affect the plot of the radio show and viseversa. The center of the weekly shows will be real and meaty interviews with famous (and not so famous) names from within and without various paranormal fields. Our goal is to not limit our conversations to the usual suspects but to reach out to psychologists, philosophers, physicists, etc. who do not normally embrace paranormal topics. Anyone who is willing to have a decent discussion about such things is welcome. In that sense we would ultimately like to act as a bridge between wrongly marginalized subjects and mainstream voices. Likewise, it is our intent to reach out to the jaded sardonic minds of this generation and the next through what the kids call “comedy.”

Hey, someone has to try to make this stuff appealing to people outside of our incenstuous circles. It’s a dirty job but somebody’s gotta do it… and we’re just the guys for the job.

In coming weeks we’ll be defining and tweaking our site and our show. Birthing pains are a fact of life, and we’re far from perfect. This is a new venture, and we want to make certain the satirical portions of the site are defined from the serious information and discussion. You’re encouraged to check out both sides…sometimes in this paranormal venue, you have to laugh or you’ll cry.

No crying in Paratopia.

Have fun! Be informed! Tell a friend! Tell another friend who thinks this stuff is all crap! I’ll shut up now!
