This weeks podcast is rather light, due to a technical difficulty beyond our control. It’s all sorted, but a bit too late to re-record our interview with our guest. However, we never let our listeners go hungry…so Jeff ate something, Jer reads from a book, and crickets ensued.

The man needs no introduction, but here it is anyway…
Kevin Randle has been a professional writer for nearly 30 years with published works that include science fiction, action-adventure, techno-thrillers, and over 20 books of non-fiction. Randle has a varied military background and was decorated in two wars. Given his military background and over 27 years of service, he is considered an expert on military matters and has been called upon by various media agencies for that expertise.
He has worked in private industry as a presentations writer for Rockwell International and he hosted a radio program on El Paso’s KTSM which explored the paranormal. He has studied Anthropology at the University of Iowa, psychology at California Coast University and History with an emphasis on Intelligence at the American Military University. He holds four degrees including a Ph.D. in psychology and a Master of the Art of Military Studies.

You guys asked for it and Paratopia delivers: The Gulf Breeze Episode. This week, our very special guest Dr. Bruce Maccabee join Jeremy and Jeff for a deep discussion of the Gulf Breeze UFO flap(s).
Bruce spent his early year in Rutland, Vt. After high school he studied physics at Worcester Polytechnic Institute in Worcester, Mass (B.S. in physics) and then at The American University, Washington, DC (M.S. and Ph. D. in physics). In 1972 commenced his long career at the Naval Surface Warfare Center, presently headquartered at Dahlgren, Virginia. He has worked on optical data processing, generation of underwater sound with lasers and various aspects of the Strategic Defense Initiative (SDI) and Ballistic Missile Defense (BMD) using high power lasers. Bruce Maccabee has been active in UFO research since late 1960s when he joined the National Investigations Committee on Aerial Phenomena (NICAP) and was active in research and investigation for NICAP until its demise in 1980. He became a member of MUFON in 1975 and was subequently appointed to the position of state Director for Maryland, a position he still holds. In 1979 he was instrumental in establishing the Fund for UFO Research and was the chairman for the about 13 years. He presently serves on the National Board of the Fund.
His UFO research and investigations (which are completely unrelated to his Navy work) have included the Kenneth Arnold sighting (Jun 24, 1947), the McMinnville, Oregon (Trent) photos of 1950, the Gemini 11 astronaut photos of September, 1966, the New Zealand sightings of December, 1978, the Japan Airlines (JAL1628) sighting of November 1986, the numerous sightings of Ed Walters and others in Gulf Breeze, Florida, 1987 - 1988, the “red bubba” sightings,1990-1992 (including his own sighting in September, 1991), the Mexico City video of August, 1997, the Phoenix lights sightings of March 13, 1997 at 10 PM, the Mexican Air Force case of March, 2004, the Iran Jet Case of Sept. 1976 and many others. He has also done historical research and was the first to obtain the “flying disc file” of the FBI (the REAL X-Files!).
Dr. Maccabee is the author or coauthor of about three dozen technical articles and more than a hundred UFO articles over the last 25 years, including many which appeared in the MUFON Journal and MUFON Symposium proceedings. He wrote the last chapter of “The Gulf Breeze Sightings” by Edward and Frances Walters (Morrow, 1990). He wrote the UFO history chapter of the book “UFOs: Zeugen und Zeichen,” published in Germany in 1995. He is co-author with Edward Walters of “UFOs Are Real, Here’s The Proof,” (Avon Books, 1997), he is the author of “The UFO/FBI Connection” (Llewellyn Books, May, 2000) and he is the author of novel, “Abduction in My Life,” (November, 2000). He is listed in Who’s Who in Technology Today and American Men and Women of Science an he has appeared on numerous radio and TV shows and documentaries.
Bruce is an accomplished pianist and organist who performed at the 1997 and 1999 MUFON symposia.

Ted Phillips recently spoke on Paratopia about the phenomenal Marley Woods Case. This seems to be one of the most compelling paranormal/UFO cases in recent history. Mr. Phillips’ credibility is impeccable in this field, which is a rarity in and of itself, and he is doing what more researchers should: sharing the facts openly with the public as the case unfolds. This week’s guest on Paratopia is none other then Ted Phillips, Director of the Center for Physical Trace Research.
Ted is an engineer, professional photographer, professional musician. He was a participant in the Vanguard Satellite Tracking Program and a field engineer on the Minuteman Missile Project. He began investigating UFO reports in 1964. He was a research associate of Dr. J. Allen Hynek from 1968 until Dr. Hynek’s death in 1986. It was at Allen Hynek’s suggestion that he began specializing in physical traces with UFO sightings in 1968. Phillips has personally investigated hundreds of UFO cases and his files contain 3,189 physical trace landings from 91 countries.
He participated in the American Institute of Aeronautics and Astronautics Aerospace Sciences meetings, along with Dr. Hynek, Jacque Vallee and Dr. David Saunders. He was a member of a select team invited to meet with the United Nations secretary-General at the U.N. in New York along with Dr. Hynek, Dr. Vallee and astronaut Gordon Cooper. Phillips gave two presentations at the First International UFO Congress.
Ted made a presentation at the first MUFON Symposium and several more including the 2006 Symposium. He has appeared on national television in numerous documentaries including In Search Of, NBC NewsWhite Papers, CBS News Special reports and the documentary movie - UFOs Are Real. Most recently featured in a History Channel documentary Alien Encounters. He is the Missouri State Director of Investigations. Current research projects include active UFO sites in the central U.S. and a major project in the Tatra Mountains, Slovakia.
